Psychotherapy Specializations: Anxiety and Stress, Aging and Sexuality, Relationships through Life Transitions, Balancing Recovery and Career

Anxiety and stress

Constant stress and anxiety can be overwhelming and leave you feeling drained and unable to move forward in important areas of your life. It can cause problems in your significant relationships and make it difficult to relax and enjoy what you are doing. You may find yourself engaging in unhealthy or compulsive behaviors because of it. I will teach effective strategies for coping with anxiety and stress and I will help you address the underlying causes.

Aging and sexuality: body image and self worth

It is hard to move forward when you are persistently unsure of yourself. I will work with you to have a better understanding of yourself and the impact of negative self-beliefs so you can start to change old patterns, enjoy life more, live with deeper personal satisfaction and move more comfortably through each phase of your life.

Relationships through life transitions

Changes in your situation or changes in your needs can impact your intimate relationships. I will work with you individually, or with you and your partner, to help you understand what you need, improve your communication, and better resolve differences.

Balancing recovery and career

Staying clean and sober especially in early recovery can take a lot of time and energy. Trying to manage a high stress career, your personal life, and a busy life with multiple responsibilities and your recovery can feel overwhelming. Sometimes it feels like you have to choose between your job and working a program. In therapy, I will work with you to find the balance that feels right for you, I will help you recognize when you are in danger of relapsing and strategies for maximizing your support, so you can take care of yourself in the present and stay on track with your future goals.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a technique I use to help people decrease suffering and experience more freedom and resilience. EMDR can be incorporated into our ongoing weekly therapy sessions, or it can be the primary focus of the treatment.

EMDR can be used to help with:

  • Performance Anxiety
  • Disturbing Memories
  • Phobias
  • Panic Attacks
  • Complicated Grief
  • Stress Reduction
  • Childhood Trauma
  • Depression
  • Body Dysmorphia
  • Eating Disorders
